National, 9 th July 2026: Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies (ARACT), a subsidiary of Amara Raja Energy & Mobility Limited (ARE&M), today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nuvation Energy, a global provider of advanced Battery Management Systems, at the 12th India Energy Storage Week (IESW) 2026 in New Delhi, to jointly explore the localization and large-scale manufacturing of high-voltage BMS platforms in India. The collaboration will have an initial focus on grid-scale storage, commercial and industrial (C&I) systems, and renewable energy integration, in support of the country’s fast-growing need for safe, reliable, grid-scale energy storage.
The company is now expanding its lithium-ion capabilities through its ₹9,500 crore, 16 GWh Gigafactory in Telangana, backed by in-house R&D at ePositive Energy Labs, and a Customer Qualification Plant that is ready for cell production very soon. Meanwhile work is on in full swing on a 10 GWh BESS facility that is expected to be operational later this year.
The MoU comes as India works toward its target of 500 GW of non-fossil power capacity by 2030, a goal that depends on grid-scale battery storage to firm up intermittent solar and wind generation. Battery Management Systems sit at the core of that dependency: they are the safety and performance-critical layer that determines whether a large storage installation can be trusted to perform. The collaboration marks a step toward advancing that goal, bringing globally validated, high-voltage BMS technology to the ESS ecosystem in India.
