From a very early age, challenges and problems have not been barriers but stepping stones towards better opportunities. This attitude is what got imbibed into me as my core value and later the business I set to create at the age of 50.

Dr. Ramachandra Naidu Galla’s journey started in the village of Petamitta, Andhra Pradesh. His formative years here, fraught with challenges due to limited guidance, resources, and opportunities, inculcated in him a pivotal realisation that for things to change he would need to think bigger, and be a trailblazer. He became the first youth to pursue higher education from his village.
This philosophy of harnessing adversity as a stepping stone to success became the cornerstone of his personal and professional life.
The narrative of Amara Raja mirrors Dr. Galla's personal journey. Returning to his rural roots in the mid-1980s, Dr. Galla founded Amara Raja Power Systems Ltd and subsequently Amara Raja Batteries, both with modest investments and a very small team.
Today, the Amara Raja Group echoes Dr. Galla's remarkable trajectory. Diversifying into businesses spanning lead-acid batteries, Li-ion battery packs and chargers, precision components, electronic manufacturing, plastic molding, infrastructure development, industrial services, food processing, and beyond, the conglomerate's influence is widespread.
Dr. Galla's visionary groundwork laid the bedrock for Amara Raja, a conglomerate that is rapidly growing and is continuing to enrich lives.
As Mahatma Gandhi asserted: “An ounce of practice is worth more than tons of preaching.” Dr R N Galla lives by this dictum, always believes in walking the talk and will continue doing so.
Dr Galla believes the culture of an organization resides in the minds of its people and is reflected in their beliefs and values, which is evident in the day-to-day behaviour. The seeds for the Amara Raja Group were sown by Dr Ramachandra N Galla who at the age of 50 made the bold decision to become an entrepreneur. Smt Aruna Kumari Galla, his wife stood with him on this courageous move and was ably supported by their children Dr Ramadevi Gourineni and Mr Jayadev Galla, the co-founders.
The Group has constituted an apex decision council by instituting the Amara Raja Corporate Council (ARCC), to provide directions & decisions to drive the Group Culture, Vision, Corporate strategy, Succession planning and much more.
The Growth committee constitutes of all the Business Heads, Group function heads and senior leaders from all businesses of the Group. This committee focuses on review & approval of group level policies along with tracking and driving the progress on group level priority projects.
